Plagued by terrible reviews, a less than impressive cast and a generally unappealing futuristic/florescent look, Speedracer, was doomed to tank at this weekends B.O.
Opening a distant second to last weekends force Iron Man, Speedracer barely made $20 Million (which many speculate is a little more than 2/3 of what P&A cost for the flick).
Early tracking at the end of last year put the film on track to do slightly bigger business, with a wide projected opening around $40 mil. But as more scenes became available and more people lost interest in Emil Hirsch and even Lost's Matthew Fox, many opted to see Iron Man again, which easily won the weekend with another whopping $50 million bringing it's world-wide total to an impressive $250 Million so far.
