With six, yes 6 arrests within the last three months, (July 19, July 2, June 27, June 23, May 9 and May 7) the once lauded rapper has become a hip hop Britney-esque tabloid spectacle.
But shouldn't we all be worried? And mroe imporantly, shouldn't we all be wondering, what going on with dude?
Earl "DMX" Simmons has made no excuses that he's battled drug addiction for several years now. But with his latest arrest, X plead not guilty to charges that he supplied an Arizona hospital with a fake name and SSN back in April to skirt a $7,500 bill, coupled with the fact that he sits in lock-up, unable to post the $5,000 bond, is it safe to say he's hit rock bottom?
TMZ is reporting that the rapper has dropped his high-powered attorney's that took to his defense when he was arrested in the whole, "I'm posing as an FBI agent, at the airport to commandeer vehicles" thing, and is now being represented by a public defender.
So as I started to report on his latest arrest, I stopped and thought to myself, behind this former celeb is a man who is obviously struggling and headed in a very dangerous direction. And perhaps we all should be asking some simple questions. It's been years since the gravel voiced MC has had a hit. But what about a hug? The rapper once said in all sincerity, "Lord gimme a sign."
Perhaps this is it.
