SOLANGE KNOWLES has been awarded last weeks Simply Fly! award. During a shopping trip in London, Solo's burnt orange frock and her delicious sky blue & gold Fendi bag made her a shoe in!
And check out her new leak. It's an open letter to the recording industry and it's over Kanye's My Everything. And mark your calendars for the upcoming SoL-Angel & The Hadley Street Dreams, which drops on August 26th.
F*@k The Industry (Signed Sincerely)
Big Ups to Angel @ Concreteloop for the track!
And check out Solange's performance last week on the UK's Charlotte Church Show. Chick sounds pretty fly!

So...Listen I'm just gonna say it: I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG!
I know, it comes as a shock to me as well. when I heard the first leak ("God Given Name") from Solange's upcoming SOLangle & The Hadley Street Dreams album, I really couldn't see the vision of what she was going for.
And then I heard the 60's inspired "I Decided" and again found it to be middle of the road, that is until I heard the FreeMason's remix of it. And then it got my attention. But nothing could possibly prepare me for this...
"Sandcastle Disco" is a perfectly upbeat, decidely frank declaration of the jitters everyone feels with new love. From the pronounced taborines to the Motown girl group "shoop shoops," everything about this tune screams summer. And pure fun. And I couldn't help but perform it for myself in the mirror, complete with sparkly headband (no, there will be no footage of said performance but trust me it was memorable).
So my verdict is simple, much like DC's red-headed step-child Michelle Williams, I'm putting Solo on my list of look-outs for this summer and I'm interested to hear what leaks next.

SOLANGE KNOWLES recently opened up to BET about her upcoming album Sol Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams, motherhood and the surprising sound she says inspired her sophomore effort.Originally, I started doing two separate sounds, and I thought it would be cool to have the 60’s 70’s music, but unlike a lot of the vintage Motown pieces that are out now just add a modern touch to it. So I would add a couple of electronic sounds here and there and that’s how it came about.
On putting together her project:
The most fun thing about putting this project together is the fact that I’ve had musical freedom. My first album I had to fight so much for my sound but with this go round, I’ve been very fearless on how I wanted to create the music and stories I wanted to tell. Sometimes I’m a little blunt and I use language that just comes to my head. So just having the freedom in saying what I want to say and how I want to say it and making good music has been so much fun.
On what to expect from her in 2008:
2008, you can expect my record. Secondly, as a writer, I’ve really grown over the past few years. I co-wrote a lot of records on my sister’s last album and on Kelly’s last album and I actually wrote Michelle’s first single, “We Break The Dawn” which is coming out real soon. I’m also writing on the Musiq Soulchild project, so I’m really growing as a writer as well as an artist. Hopefully, you will see a lot of me in 2008.
WHOA: Ya'll know "We Break The Dawn" is my ISH! That's what's up.

"Whenever Beyoncé decides to have a child, I definitely think she'll be banging on my door," younger sister Solange Knowles tells PEOPLE.
In fact, when it comes to kids, Solange – single mom to 3-year-old Daniel Julez – claims Beyoncé has a lot to learn.
"She's kept my son over the weekend," says the 21 year-old singer and actress. "She'll call me like, 'How do you get this stroller out? And what about the car seat? I don't know how you do this!' And I'm like, 'People do it every day.' "
Knowles spoke with PEOPLE about life and her new album – SoL-AngeL and the Hadley St. Dreams – and her latest single, the '60s-inspired "I Decided." (Click on our NEW MUSIC section to Listen to her two singles)
While admitting that she's the more outspoken of the Knowles sisters, Solange managed to keep mum about Beyoncé's extravagant wedding to Jay-Z which, sources tells PEOPLE, happened April 4 in New York City.
"I don't know anything about [a wedding]," she insisted four days later, adding coyly, "You'll have to ask her yourself."
And while she may be happy to share parenting tips, don't expect Solange to dole out any marriage advice.
"I got married at 17 and divorced at 20," she says. "So I don't know if anyone would look to me for advice about that!"
